Family and Friends Drop In (For carers)
'Gathered meetings' will not take place at BRBC in January, February or March 2022. Information about future meetings will be sent directly to all Carers already associated with the group and also posted here in late March.
Meanwhile the team will stay in touch with everyone already associated with the group in all the ways they did throughout the lockdowns of 2020 and the team also warmly welcome enquiries from any other Carers who may wish to get in touch. (See how to get in touch further down this page.)
‘Family & Friends Drop In’ at Brighton Road Baptist Church is for anyone who supports another person where the person who receives that care could not live their everyday life safely, decently or even enjoyably without it. We also extend a warm welcome to those who ‘have cared’ in recent times but that journey is now over.
We offer a calm, private and deeply confidential space in which Carers may relax and recharge their emotional and spiritual batteries in the company of other Carers and with a team of experienced helpers who really understand.
It is not necessary to be a ‘registered Carer’ or to attend this church or indeed any church to attend this group. If you are ‘caring’ for someone else who depends on that help then you are invited to come along ‘just as you are’. You will be most welcome.
We usually meet together between 2pm and 4pm on the second Friday afternoon of each month, but do check the Church Bulletin newssheet or calendar because just occasionally we need to tweak our arrangements to fit around others.
Pre-Covid we also gathered together twice a year on a Saturday afternoon to share a very relaxed full afternoon tea. We fully intend to resume doing this too when we feel it is the right time to do so.
‘Drop In’ always begins with a time of reflection and/or discussion related to ‘Caring’. Following this there is plenty of opportunity to unwind and chat with members of the team and other Carers while enjoying a choice of homemade cake and drinks from our famously bottomless tea and coffee pots.
The team hold a selection of books and leaflets specifically related to Caring and for some Carers these have proved very helpful. The team are also able to signpost Carers who wish for this to a good range of additional support which is offered in the wider community and also from within the church too. We will also pray 1:1 with anyone who wishes for that.
We encourage everyone who would like to just visit or to join us to do so as fits alongside their private circumstances without feeling any pressure at all to explain the whys and the wherefores.
If you would like to know more about ‘Drop In’ or if you would appreciate speaking with one of our Carers team in confidence we can be contacted by email: email@example.com or via the church office tel: 01403 211150.
We look forward to welcoming you!
