Together in Horsham

Introducing the YMCA DownsLink Challenge! - Saturday 17th July
YMCA DownsLink Group is a charity working to prevent youth homelessness across Sussex and Surrey. Through our youth advice centres, community and school counselling services, family mediation and other youth focused services, we provide support to 10,000 children, young people and families each year.

More information can be found here.

On Saturday 17th July, we’re inviting you to take on the 16-mile YMCA DownsLink Challenge from Horsham to Shoreham-by-Sea to help us put young people experiencing homelessness back on the path to independence.

Following the Downs Link pathway which links the North and South Downs (and which gave our charity its name!), the route contains tree-lined embankments, wide open fields and lovely views. You are welcome to walk or run the route, or take part in your own space with our remote option!

Secure your place here.

HORSHAM DISTRICT COUNCIL
VOLUNTARY SECTOR SUPPORT SCRUTINY GROUP
 - Looking for new members
Every quarter a small group of people who volunteer or work within the voluntary sector in our district meet with the VSS team.  Their purpose is to be critical friends of VSS. Together they test the service, provide constructive, robust and purposeful challenge, share and consider feedback from the voluntary sector to drive improvements.
The Scrutiny Group is looking for a couple more representatives from small, volunteer led, grassroots organisations.  They would especially like to hear from anyone involved in the following organisations:
  • faith groups
  • health & wellbeing
  • sports
  • animal welfare
  • heritage, arts & culture
The reason they are looking for people in these areas is so they have proper representation from all areas of the voluntary sector.
If you are interested and would like to find out more please email liz.burt@horsham.gov.uk
